A public service announcement to let folks know that beginning in April I will be doing 7 shows a week at Operation Mincemeat. If you come when I’m off, you will be so fortunate to see the insanely talented @samfred88 or @robertariza as Hester, who will break your heart and make you laugh til your sides hurt. But if you’re a friend, especially making a trip to New York specifically to see me in the show, please reach out so I can make sure our schedules align.

Stephen Sondheim used to have cast parties at his townhouse, and I will never forget spending an evening there during Sunday in the Park with George. I sat on the couch with him for an hour: I asked where he kept his Tonys (“I think in a drawer upstairs somewhere”), talked about his piano that had been Leonard Bernstein’s, and had a long conversation about the advantages of standard poodles as a breed. He also mentioned how he liked cats, but I wasn’t a cat person yet and could never have guessed that one day I’d have his cat cubby (on loan) in my apartment. Steve had this cat box for years, and after his cat passed away, he kept a program of the musical CATS inside. After attending (and LOVING) the Jellicle Ball last night, we can continue the tradition.

Masquerade has been a singular experience in my 20 years as an actor. I am immensely grateful to have gotten to don the legendary mask and sing this score alongside a company of magic makers. Being close enough to the audience to see and feel the impact of our work was the most rewarding storytelling I’ve ever done. Paired with some incredible scene partners and five actors I now consider my brothers, I have truly been living the dream.
