It’s been interesting month mixing music. I’ve got to mix some fine Finnish pop, bossa nova (I’d love to mix more jazz genres!) and power metal. Now it’s time to work on the studio acoustics and write some guitar solos for the next Time Primer album. Maybe I’ll write some new blog posts as well!

Just realized I've had these monitors for 10 years now. Genelecs are extremely precise in the mid-range and I mainly use them to find ugly resonances or bad sounding transients on a snare drum. You can drive yourself crazy tracking guitars with these since they give such honest feedback. I'll certainly keep using these for 10 more years but now I need to get my second pair of speakers installed!

Finished this book during the Christmas break and gotta tell you, it's one of the most inspiring books I've read in a while. After reading this I am more confident that I'm on the right path with music and mixing as a career. Also realised that creativity is more important for me than I thought. Rubin made me realise that creativity is part of everything not just music or arts in general.
If you feel stuck in a rut with your creative endeavours you should definitely give this one a try!

That's a wrap!
This year has been very busy and I'm extremely grateful that I'm able to work with music full time. Big thanks to all the bands and artists I've had the honor to collaborate throughout the year 2025. Next year I'll take the time to develope my processes to the next level and maybe finally get my hybrid mixing setup going. Will focus more on the quality than quantity and also put some time aside to work my own art as well with @timeprimermusic .
