dear India.
what a journey that I had with you.
discovering a place that I’ve always dreamed of is surreal, even more when it’s your own culture that you barely know.
as a French, I have to admit that the narrative that western media gave to this country modelled my vision of my own culture. hating on your skin color, on your food, of the smells, on the way can dress and on what you represent.
But now, I feel way more aligned with who I am by embracing entirely this magnificent culture, even if I was more a tourist than a real Indian, seeing yourself surrounded by people looking exactly like you was a new feeling for me and it was kinda nice to not feel the weight of eyes telling you “you don’t belong here”.
you showed me how the world can be so colorful and joyful but also very noisy haha.
you showed me that there isn’t only one way of being Indian but multiple ones.
you showed me the true beauty of embracing your culture, learning from it and digging deep into it.
and finally you healed a part of me by showing me the way to my ancestors city, their streets, their history. it was surreal to be the first one to dig into archives to find answers and to be able to meet family members that nobody knows yet…
I’m so thankful to have met them but also to all the friends that I’ve encountered during this journey from north to south, I feel truly truly grateful.
the goodbye was difficult and intense after everything that I’ve discovered but I will comeback for sure.
to the north, dhanyavaad धन्यवाद.
to the south, nandri நன்றி.
it was my second time discovering the land of my grandparents and what a journey. I feel very thankful for everybody that I’ve met.
being able to learn and discover not on your own but with some childhood friends from the same culture is a blast.
I’m also very grateful for discovering a new part of my family, feels very weird to be part of the same family and not knowing each others, but now we do and we are happy about it.
the last picture is one of my favourite because you can find my uncle and my aunties but it also shows you that there isn’t only one way of being Vietnamese, they are my brown Vietnamese crew :)
I had to make a video about this calm and peaceful place. I’m so happy to have been able to experience this, a break from the noise and the crowds in the middle of the forest.

the music was made by @alexhaud.wav for my friend’s movie @alizeesuga . this song made me feel even more close to the beauty of this country and embodied perfectly the feeling of being there.

so proud of us!!!!! 6 days to build a team and an idea, sharing our thoughts and our creativity.
I’m very grateful to have been able to do a thing that I love in another part of the world, where creativity and boldness are a statement and having fun is the ultimate goal of a fashion project.
