“The wonders of the Sir John Soane Museum”
The Sir John Soane’s Museum is my favourite museum in London, and I try and go there a couple of times a year there are always new things to see. A beautiful collection of objects housed in an amazingly designed building
This museum was the starting point of my new show and body of artworks: ceramics and wooden objects. “Le Palais des Rêves”. The starting of the story of the same name published in a limited edition pamphlet by @roughtradebooks
Le Palais des Rêves, which is at James Jackson at 279 Lillie Road, London SW6 7LL, from May 1 to 10, has a private view on April 30 6-8pm

A fabulous addition to @robertrubbish ’s forthcoming exhibition Le Palais des Rêves is this collection of assemblages he has created from found objects.
These quizzical pieces will be presented alongside new artworks and a series of ceramics made with @dominiquefuglistaller to underline the ‘astounding draughtmanship, delicate fine lines and irresistible sense of humour’ identified in Robert's work by the designer Christine Vanderhurd.
The assemblages resemble maquettes for monuments like those featured in the show and accompanying book such as the Hannah Courtoy mausoleum in Brompton Cemetery and the Palais Idéal, created by the postman Ferdinand Cheval over 33 years from objects found on his rounds as a postman.
The pieces also reference Robert’s interest in the impressive collections of objets accumulated by Victor Hugo and André Breton, who are both encountered in Le Palais des Rêves, which is at James Jackson at 279 Lillie Road, London SW6 7LL from May 1 to 10, private view April 30.
Inquiries, prices and further details @jimandhim .

The writer, the minatour and the house cat
Jean Cocteau viewed mirrors as magical, liminal portals connecting life, death, and the subconscious.
In a mirror in Hauteville house we see a reflection of the writer, the minatour and the house cat, possibly an image frozen in time.
The image is also inspired by a quote Victor Hugo carved on a chair at Hauteville house.
