What began with one small yes to bring more joy into my life four years ago turned into an incredible week of building awareness for Dolly Parton’s @imaginationlibrary Library with the @thekreweofdolly of Dolly!
Over the past week I had the honor of:
📚Visiting the Louisiana State Capitol with the Imagination Library of Louisiana team to speak with legislators about the impact of the program and the importance of maintaining the state match that keeps books flowing to children.
📚 Sharing how the Krewe of Dolly manages and grows the program locally in Orleans Parish while celebrating the exciting statewide growth of the Imagination Library and the communities helping expand access to books.
📚 Participating in a panel at Family Day at the @nolabookfest Book Festival at @tulaneu University, discussing why early access to books matters and how community partnerships support families and young readers.
📚 Bringing a little Dolly sparkle to Book Fest with costumed Krewe members helping spread the joy of literacy.

We are thrilled to announce that Krewe of Dolly will be participating in a panel discussion at Family Day tomorrow at 10 AM at the ROTC building at @tulaneu 📚🌈🦋 Panelists include Malcolm Mitchell, Super Bowl Champion, author, and Founder & CEO of the Share the Magic Foundation; Lindsay Weixler, Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Tulane University and Co-Director of the New Orleans Collaborative for Early Childhood Research; and Jill Dunchick, Literacy Chair for the Krewe of Dolly and Louisiana Liaison for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Together, they will discuss why access to books in early childhood matters, how community partnerships support young readers and families, and how effective collaboration can help strengthen families and transform communities across Orleans Parish. Moderated by Annie Wentz, educator, editor at McGraw Hill, and founding member of the Krewe of Dolly, this session is designed for educators, caregivers, and advocates and highlights the vital role early literacy plays in building strong foundations for the future.
