One day in the summer of 2005, three of us came together to discuss a potential collaboration.
What came out of the discussion was this book.
Mother Maiden Mistress.
The title was chosen after the final Manuscript was locked.
Lot of work went in bringing out this book. 7 years of it.
When we began we didn’t have a publisher on board. It was instinct and something that we thought was necessary.
Then Harper Collins came on board.
Its has been an age and a day since it first saw the light, but we do believe in its relevance in these times too.

‘Better Things’ (JioHotstar) -staring, co created and directed by Pamela Adlon. I saw the teaser back when the first season aired and though I had never known Pamela Adlon, something about it made me watch. The story/plot centres around the single Mother (Pamela Adlon) and her 3 daughters at various ages- one coming into adult hood (Oscar winner Mickey Madison’s big break), one in teens and one young child. Three different personalities, different dad raised by their mother. It has a pace where it gives the audience the time to absorb things. It is comedy-drama where moments catch you so unaware and you are left with- this happens with me too.

‘Tighi’ is about mother-daughter relationship.
I went for an afternoon show in the third week in theatres. In-spite of long week end and a massive Hindi movie releasing, it was heartening to see the theatre hall almost full. The crowd was mostly mother/daughters, sisters, friends and a couple of males.
Directed by Jeejivisha Kale @jeejivisha , it holds your heart right from the start. The cast -Bharati Achelkar (mother), Sonalee Kulkarni (elder daughter,Sarika) and Neha Pendse (younger daughter Swati) give life to often stereotyped roles of mother-daughter. Written by Nikhil Mahajan @nikmahajan and Prajakt Deshmukh @prajakt_d , the story weaves the light and the heavy emotions of the story with such delicate hands that you are smiling and crying almost at every scene.
Adding few movies from this genre which have stayed with me for the longest time.
