It’s been a while since I’ve posted any work. There’s been a few big changes in my life this year, so trying to stay present has definitely taken priority over documenting/sharing. Hope yall enjoy this piece as much as I did making it. There’s a rough and chunky quality to the line work I’m especially into. ✨

Was a bit looser on this one. Trying to feel ok with each unintentional mark. Wherever the mistakes take me. 😅

Search and then simplify. I feel like this process video is a good example of that thought going through my head.

I used to feel really precious about each mark when I first started painting. Fearful that the next mark would mess things up. But I’ve learned that the redos, the paint overs, and the erasing brings me so much joy. And a lot more texture and depth to the finished work.
I almost always prefer my shitty thumbnail sketches over the finished painting, but when I just accept the mistakes and rework things in this way, I feel like the finished piece somehow keeps this sketching quality.

I’ve been making smaller works with acrylic on paper. I love the immediacy of it. Keeps me from over thinking things and a bit more connected to my subconscious 👁️-👁️
