One last tune on these old, beloved, very worn out strings.
This mandolin was gifted to me by a dear friend who was one of the most life-filled, joyous, and musically gifted people i have ever known. Since his passing less than a year later, I have found myself so grateful for how much of him is within this instrument, but also found it remarkably difficult to bring myself to change the strings it came with. While they are increasingly hard to keep in tune and are far less responsive than they once were, there is a definite depth of life and sustained brightness beneath the muted tone that i love dearly. And yet, with another spring upon us, it is time to embrace that which is new, wind up a bright new set, and carry the journey forward. 💛🌱
Thoughts from two winters ago. Reflecting on perpetual motion, the depth of contrast between seasons, and the abundance of energy held in waterways.
Each season, the opposite feels magically distant, yet the days flow by and the increasingly delicate dance of warmth and cold plays on.
I promise to keep listening - to the earth, to myself, and to you. Together in this motion, we grow.
Quick morning meditation.
A pause for grounding and reflection in a world swirling with hurt, fragmentation, and seemingly insurmountable injustice, yet also inexplicable beauty, hope, and possibility.
Here’s to the vision of and necessity for a future filled with healing, reparations, and radical progress. Wherever you are, I hope you can take a pause in your day, too.
Enamored with this book lately. Highly recommend to anyone interested in the convergence of love, grief, depth, wonder, and a more grounded way of viewing this world we all share. 💚
A couple excerpts above - thanks to @alexispauline for carrying this gem into the world!
