Sunshine After Dark 275: 1980, Part 17 Arista THURS 7pm CJSR MDT, SAT 7pm CHMA ADT, TUES 6pm CKXU MDT / all streaming links in bio This week I'm featuring 1980 releases from Arista records, which I feel was one of the more forward looking majors, in terms of the emerging musical style of the 80s. Not a definitive label profile, just the records I've got, programming multiple cuts off each to give a fair sense of the label's style. I'll be taking this approach in future 1980 episodes, cause I have more LPs than singles left to get through. Fat Larry's Band and The Gap Band are not Arista acts, I threw them in to complement the rest of the brew. Note that the Tonto synthesizer (slide 3) is now at the (Canadian) National Music Centre in Calgary. Love the DJ stamp on slide 1.
