On March 29th, I partnered with the Josephine Herrick Project as a photographer for the Wounded Warriors photowalk. Veterans from all over New York came to @icp to partake in a guided tour around LES into Chinatown with photographers @albertovasari and @wendy_c_photo . We were also accompanied by @bailarinphotography , who was a great help in taking pictures and guiding the veterans around LES to Chinatown.
Saturday Sun.
.
We partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project for our first photo walk of the year. We met up @icp cafe for a little lunch provided by @wwp and met Veterans from all parts of NY and some from other states.
After a guided tour with photographer @albertovasari and @wendy_c_photo we walked through unseen tight corners from LES to China Town.
Enjoy these clips shared by our Veteran Participants on what captured their curiosity and brought them joy on this sunny day.
Shout out to @bailarinphotography for his support!!
@krivera67 who documented our event and was his last day as our Photographer Apprentice with @jhproject
Thank you Photographers:

On March 10, I partnered with the Josephine Herrick Project as a photographer for the Harlem Hope Center (@hopecenterharlem ). At this event, we taught Harlem residents about how to properly use SONY cameras to shoot and create art. Our teachers, Brianna R (@the_visual_butterfleye ) and Michael Young (@mgyoungphotography ) did an amazing job teaching and providing support to all that attended, as well as our Program Director Wendy Correa (@wendy_c_photo ), who also came to help teach and share the values and mission of JPH.
Thank you so much @sonyalpha for the camera to help share and create art for all.

Some students decided to go on a photowalk on the Ferry with me, and this is what they came up with. I'm so proud of them! Some of them are totally new to photography, and they really open my eyes to a different world. Big thanks to @jhproject and @wendy_c_photo for making spaces for people like my students and me to express ourselves. You should check out their Instagram and website. They do amazing work with veterans and the whole community.

See you out there!
Thank you to @icp for holding a space for us.
I brought some photographers from my veteran photography class on a photo walk with me on the S.I. Ferry. We tried out various camera modes and compositions. It's fulfilling to see the vets passionate about photography and sharing this experience with me. I used to take this trip alone, but it was great to have company. These are some of my photos, and I'll share theirs soon, if they're comfortable. Shoutout to my fellow veteran and photographer @greeneyedmonsterphotography , who's started his own page. Go give him a follow the man’s a genius.
Join us next Thursday, 3/26 for another edition of Artist Anonymous! Led by Photographer, Photo Editor, Educator, & Curator @wendy_c_photo !📸
Artists Anonymous exists to help photographers and artists move through the fear of sharing their work by creating a critique space rooted in honesty, care, and community. Built from the lived experience of battling vulnerability, this platform offers a way to be seen without the pressure of being known.
Through anonymous submissions, we remove bias and allow the work to speak for itself. Artists Anonymous invites participants to hear how their work is received, interpreted, and challenged through open conversation and peer feedback. Our goal is to normalize discomfort as part of growth, encourage creative risk taking, and support artists in developing confidence through critique.
Led by an experienced photo editor, curator, and educator, and joined by working industry guests, Artists Anonymous is a safe space to rip off the bandaid, release fear, and keep showing up as a student of the craft.

On February 14, I partnered with the Josephine Herrick Project as a photographer for Wendy Correa (Program Director) as she visited the International Center of Photography school to share her work as a photographer. At the start of the class, students developed their own photos using state-of-the-art filming processing equipment. Later in the class, Wendy Correa spoke about herself as an artist, sharing her experiences and explaining how to create your own projects and stories. While building relationships through a one-day shoot versus a long-term project.
The @jhproject Creator Club funded by Pinkerton Foundation is returning to @ihs_lagcc with a 90% girl group this semester. I am very honored to be the instructor again and excited to see the zines created by these students in 3 months.
On February 28th, I partnered with Josephine Herrick Project, interning as a photographer for their annual Making a Mark Veterans Photography Exhibition at the Queens Vet Center. At this event, Veterans that we taught to use cameras and the basics of photography went out into the field to take photos that help tell a story. Then the photos taken are put into high quality physical prints and are shown in the public exhibition with their classmates and families to celebrate their creative courage.
