The 16 Days may end, but the fight continues. 🧡
Johannesburg Pride and @gbvfresponsefund1 advocates stand together to raise awareness, support survivors, and amplify voices that are too often silenced.
If you or someone you know needs help, reach out to the numbers on the poster. Every voice deserves to be heard, every life protected, every identity respected.

Today, South Africa celebrates one of our own.
Johannesburg Pride proudly celebrates @hrh_the_princess_swan Simone Heradien - activist, trailblazer, community leader, and one of the early directors who helped shape the journey of Johannesburg Pride, on her incredible casting as Granny Lee in an upcoming international film production alongside acclaimed actress Maria Doyle Kennedy.
For decades, Simone has dedicated her life to advancing transgender visibility, advocacy and human rights in South Africa. Through her work in the community, her role as one of the founding voices of Gender DynamiX, and her unwavering commitment to activism, Simone has spent her life opening doors so that others could walk through them.
Now the world gets to witness yet another chapter of her story.
To see a South African transgender activist share the global stage with internationally celebrated names is bigger than entertainment, it is representation, legacy and history in motion.
From Johannesburg Pride to the world stage - we see you, we celebrate you, and we could not be prouder.
Congratulations, Simone. Your light continues to shine for so many. 🏳️⚧️✨

Today we honour Freedom Day. 🇿🇦
A day rooted in the fight for dignity, equality, and the right to live freely in South Africa.
But freedom is not just something written into history — it is something we must be able to live every day.
For the LGBTQ+ community, Pride is that freedom in action.
The freedom to love.
The freedom to exist.
The freedom to be.
As Nelson Mandela reminded us, true freedom is lived in a way that uplifts others - and that is the journey we continue.
From protest to Pride, we are still marching.
With Johannesburg Pride, we celebrate how far we’ve come and recommit to the work still ahead.
Happy Freedom Day ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤
