Last year we launched @theshiftison and last week the inaugural Shiftmakers Gala came to life at Harvard. The weekend brought together leaders across entertainment, sport, business, and advocacy to close out Women’s History Month.
I’m inspired every single day by these incredible women and fortunate to call so many of them friends.
Dreaming Whilst Black has landed three @royaltelevisionsociety award nominations for tonight’s ceremony and I couldn’t be more proud to have played a small part in this journey! 🙌🏾
When we brought @a24 onboard the @bbc comedy series from @s.adjani and @bigdeal.tv , they trusted the creative vision, let the team cook, and another stellar international co-production was born.
There’s a myth that’s been repeated in this industry for too long: “Comedy doesn’t travel.” Don’t invest too heavily in taking it global. Keep expectations local.
These nominations are a reminder that when you back authentic storytelling and ignore the gatekeeping myths, audiences around the world can find it and celebrate it.
International partners didn’t stop UK audiences from embracing DWB as a quintessentially British hit before it went global. Great comedy doesn’t need to be diluted to cross borders, it needs to be trusted.
Season 2 is out now in the US on @showtime & @paramountplus 🇺🇸 Fingers crossed Adjani & the team bring home some well-deserved hardware tonight 🏆
But whatever the result, the data is finally catching up to what many of us already knew... Authentic stories travel furthest of all! 🙏🏾
