Today was my Mom’s last day of work. She’s been a nurse for over 30 years. When I was a kid she worked overnights, then she’d get home at 7am and somehow “raise us” during the day lol. I’ve watched her work her ass off my whole life. Missing holidays, getting called back in after a long day. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked her to do something and she said “I can’t, I’m on call”. Well Ma, that ends today.
My dad retired a few months ago as well. He’s the hardest working man I know. Always making sure we had what we needed. Always providing for us even if it meant he had to miss some of the good stuff. I’m so grateful to have grown up with an example like him.
Tonight we (begin to) celebrate you both and all you’ve done for us our whole lives. I’m so excited for you both to wake up and do whatever the hell you feel like. Travel, read, go golfing, knit a sweater, play pickleball, start a YouTube channel called Nonna and Poppy’s kitchen - whatever it is I support it and it will be such a privilege to see. You’ve both fully earned it and I love you more than anything. Congratulations ♥️🙌🏻🎉!!!
Happy Sweet 16 to my #1 silly buddy, my niece, my Goddaughter, one of my absolute favorite humans on earth, G-Money!! 🥳♥️ Giules, where has the time gone? I can still close my eyes and remember recording you being a maniac with your high pitched voice and lisp, like it was yesterday. Some of the hardest laughs and happiest moments I’ve ever had in my life were just hangin with you, entertaining eachother.
You are the smartest, most ambitious and driven kid I’ve ever met. Which usually doesn’t go hand in hand with such a fun personality. But you’re the exception. And even more rare, is your beautiful heart. You’re the best big sister to Ella, you’re so thoughtful, caring and responsible, and you make us all so extremely proud every day.
