I’ve been in a lot of audiences. I’ve fallen in love with a new artist, the sun’s still out, the entire
day still ahead of me. It’s literally the best. I know that. I’ve done that.
What I haven’t done is be that new artist. To walk out on stage, my name bouncing around on
an LED screen, my songs blasting through speakers the size of a small building. The crowd sort
of moves like a liquid if you blur your eyes a bit, but you can focus in on any portion of it and catch
someone’s day playing out in real-time. Jumping with their friends, laughing, shoving each other
around like puppies playfighting.
That’s a different feeling. One that if I don’t feel again for the rest of my life, at least I felt it once.
