This is my submission for Aveda’s Catwalk for Water Scholarship Program. I created this divine personification of the ocean Using 100% ORGANIC COTTON YARN. The top and sleeves were crocheted by hand and for the skirt portion I crocheted a loincloth/taparrabo and decorated it with sea shells from last trip to Roatan. It was really important for me to embrace my Indigenous and Black/Caribbean Roots for my look to showcase the beauty of my heritage while simultaneously raising awareness about preventing ocean pollution showing how harmful contamination is for our waters.
