SPRING EQUINOX
sleep was not in the stars
1:35AM
unplugged all the night lights
gave the cat a snack
took a long drink of water
buried myself in the sheets
put on my glasses
so i could see
stared out the bedroom window
waited
something was coming
i sensed it in my bones
within moments
a neon green shooting star
as if on command
(maybe i did)
after i gasped
i made a wish
you know
we got it
They call this the City of Angels Because it is Heaven
I’m trying to keep up with her
The Sun rises at a reliable pace
Early, baby
She will be there.
Later, baby
She will be there.
I can’t look at her for too long
Squinting as the rays vibrate between my lashes
She is there.
And on the dining room floor now I feel her warm on my back
Sending prisms through each and every single strand of hair
Suddenly, I’m an Angel, too.

And I’m off.
Hauling down Sunset
Jailbreak #3 in the last two weeks
Away from the computer
