This birthday feels different. For almost two decades I tried to get here, but I never truly committed, never built the habits, never believed it was possible. This year I finally showed up differently and it paid off.
Three BDAY lessons Iām carrying forward:
1ļøā£ Your environment dictates your success. Huge shoutout to my wife for always being around and constantly wanting us to improve our health and hotness meter š
2ļøā£ Do something for yourself. Donāt wait on anyone else to do it for you.
3ļøā£ Getting older isnāt bad. In fact, it gets betterāif you get better.
And I canāt post this without giving love to @creativelivingatl and @erin.schaut Your birthday posts this year pushed me to realize I could show up differently too. Thank you for motivating me in a way you probably didnāt even realize.
Grateful, motivated, and excited for whatās next.

When I auditioned for Beauregard in Yule Log 2, I wasnāt just thinking about the lines and my acting, I was thinking about the character as a whole.
The wardrobe.
The energy.
The way he carried himself.
I even wore a jacket into the audition that ended up becoming a part of the actual character in the movie.
By the time we filmed, I only wasnāt wearing it in a couple scenes!
Thatās why I always tell actors:
Donāt just āperformā the roleā¦ embody it. Sometimes the little details are what make a character feel real enough for people to remember. Do the things that wil help you stand out.

One thing about working on a Tyler Perry set,
You have to be ready.
There were moments on Sistas where weād finish a scene or a line and immediately be moving into the next setup. No wasted time. No overthinking. Just preparation meeting opportunity.
And thatās why I respect Tyler so much. The level of vision and execution it takes to move that fast while still telling the story well is genius.
It also taught me something important as an actor; Preparation matters.
Because when a set moves that quickly, thereās no time to āfigure it outā once the cameraās rolling. You have to show up ready to play.
Thatās the standard at the highest levels.

Earlier in my career, I tried improvising on set early on in my career with Marlon Wayanās āNakedā and it didnāt go well.
Fast forward years later, Iām on the set of Bad Boys: Ride or Die working alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrenceā¦ and I decided not to let an old experience dictate who I was as an actor now.
So I took the shot.
Played. Improvised. Stayed present.
This timeā¦ it worked.
Thatās the cool part about growth.
Just because something didnāt work for you once doesnāt mean itās not part of your future.
Sometimes youāre just not ready for it yet.
