@modern.patina for awhile and I’m guessing by the lack of posts in the last couple of years it got to be too much but that shouldn’t stop you from going back and going through them all.
We first crossed paths ages ago when I photographed his band Motion City Soundtrack
@motioncitysoundtrack although neither of us remembered that we had actually worked together. We really got to know each other later when we ended up living in the same suburb in New Jersey. It didn’t take long to realize we both loved watches but he was waaaay deeper into the world than I’ll ever be.
During the pandemic I photographed him in my dining room for
@hodinkee which was awesome. I don’t think we worked for a full year, and our studio in LA was forced to close and our tenants were hitting us up for rent relief and we were struggling to say the least.
@hodinkeemag paid well AND on time! For a magazine this is kind of unheard of in these times of magazines treating photographers like they owe them something. That’s also when he introduced me to Sinn, which sent me down another rabbit hole but thankfully the 556 is all I needed. “Needed”.
Recently Jesse opened a board game cafe in our town called The Player Agency,
@the.player.agency and not long after opened a second one in Montclair. That’s the one I stopped by on Friday to say hello. I’ll admit I know absolutely nothing about the board game world beyond Monopoly, Sorry, and Risk, but if you know Jesse it makes perfect sense.
Here he is with his Pepsi GMT on a jubilee. I didn’t get all the details but I would guess a late 1970s (I’m sure he’ll chime in once I post this).
While I was there I also ran into another friend Michael Dubin
