New mix for my lovely DANS family out now on DANS Soundcloud (link in bio) A few words: Last October I saw Regis (Karl O'Connor) DJ live for the first time and his style immediately grabbed my attention. From there on I started to dig deeper. In March of this year Surgeon (Anthony Child) released his first techno LP in five years (pictured above, highly recommended!!). Both have a significant influence on my musical tastes. What connects the two? The Birmingham sound This set contains some of their late 90s / early 2000s productions, tracks from their duo project as British Murder Boys as well as tracks from Female & Regis (Peter Sutton aka Female, O'Connors label partner from Downwards Records, with whom he started the Sandwell District project alongside Juan Mendez aka Silent Servant and Dave Sumner aka Function). On top of that a few more recent releases from other artists which should fit well into the sound. There is much more to tell about their history and the creation of their music, but that would go beyond the scope of this post.
