I worked on the design team for Lorwyn Eclipsed and had the pleasure of making ideas for different tree folks. I kind of like the idea of the second one that uses rocks as a kind of shoe. I imagine that treefolk will always need some kind of connection to the ground to stay rooted, but this one has cheated the system and is carrying his own rooting with him in order to stay more agile. Color comp for Grub. I always make a color test in acrylic to make sure where I wanna go with light and colors. The more I solve at this stage the more I can relax while painting and make sure I am able to have fun with it. Painting is hard so anything I can do to make it less so is appreciated.

When working on the design bible for the Lorwyn Eclipsed I got the chance to come up with some new ideas for Treefolks. I thought about how a “hasty ent” like the ones Treebeard from Lotr talks about, would look. And the tree sort that came to mind was a birch. I am very happy how agile he seems to be. He doesn’t even have time for nesting birds? (“TM and © Wizards of the Coast”)

Jesper Ejsings corner at @tegnestuenpinligtselskab . In the photos: Jespers very first cover for the underground role playing magazine SAGA, made when he was 16. Wall drawings by visiting artists such as Donato Giancola and Kim Jung Gi. Supersculpy orch heads. Paint, paintings and many other glorious things. It’s the first time these photos have been shared, even though they are a couple of years old now.

Monday I was trying willow-weaving for the first time. A workshop taught by Lene at @pileflet.dk was a fantastic experience. I am amazed at how forgiving the material is and how much you can change and go back even with a “hard” material as a willow branch. With perfect guidance I managed to make this basket for my wife in 6 hours. This is definitely not the last time I weave with willow. (It feels like I learned the craft of the faeries) @pileflet.dk
