SPREEUWEN is a new dummy exploring the large flocks of starlings flying around my neighbourhood every evening at dusk over the past few weeks, marking the slow beginning of spring. The book consists of 80 A3 double-printed sheets, folded in half, creating new ‘birdscapes’ on every spread. Also folded into these are images of large smoke clouds. Just like the starlings, almost every year there is a major industrial fire in an industrial area of Amsterdam near where I live, leaving behind a very big cloud of smoke. From birds to smoke, it always marks a moment in the year.

Marathon - A collection of running photo’s from the past few years (and the first dummy of the year). The chances of me running a marathon are very low, but photographing one is always fun. Colorful outfits and shoes, and an endless stream of exhausted faces. Making this dummy was quite a process (shown here in the slides) that involved a lot of different designs, sizes and covers.

This work is the result of my constant urge to photograph the mundane moments of everyday life. I'm fascinated by how seemingly ordinary moments can gain meaning through attention and framing. From eggshells after breakfast to a game of football on the beach, each image stands on its own, but together they form a series that highlights the colorful and cheerful side of life.

Born in 1996, he lives and works in his hometown of Amsterdam. He graduated in photography in 2019. His work is often based on the façade of everyday life, which he connects to broader themes such as politics and contemporary mass visual culture.
