I can’t even begin to describe the pain of overlapping grief. Losing both grandparents within two months was never something I imagined. But through all this heartbreak, what I keep returning to is just how deeply I loved & was loved by my grandfathers.
My abuelo lived with an endearing confidence. He knew exactly who he was and never bent himself for anyone. He was a doer (in every sense). A man who immigrated his wife, all six children, and even his in-laws on a single income. Everything he did, every sacrifice he made, was for family. Me enseñó que todo es posible y que, con un simple “tsk” o “mehhh” cualquier drama se hacía chiquito jajaja
Voy a extrañar a mi abuelo con todo mi corazón. El vacío que deja es enorme. But I’m endlessly grateful for the love he poured into us, for the way he showed up, and for the legacy of family-first devotion he leaves behind.
