Step inside the creative process with award-winning Canadian choreographer Jera Wolfe as he takes you behind the scenes of his new work, Kismet. Jera shares how the idea of fate and our connection to nature shaped the piece and why he chose Ezio Bosso’s cinematic Symphony No. 2 as its score.
The world premiere of Kismet is presented alongside Helen Pickett’s Emma Bovary for six performances only, May 29 – June 4. 🔗 in bio.

Yay!!
✨I am so excited to invite you all to this incredible concert that I am privileged and honoured to play in!! This is my 2nd Winter Showcase with Joy of Music, and I am so fortunate to have Peggy Baker and Gabriel Cropley by my side to organise this.
✨We’ll get to see new works by Jera Wolfe as well as Peggy Baker, and bring back something special by Emily Spearing too. I cannot wait to see Derek Souvannavong, Emily, Jessica Runge, Katherine Semchuk, and Jera dance once more on the incredible stage at the Betty O, lit up by the wizard and genius Gabriel Cropley!
✨We are so delighted to book the fantastic Timothy Chooi to play some solo and chamber music with us! There’s some beautiful Chopin and Brahms solo pieces, Bach violin solo, and a piece by Kirill Richter - all danced to by some of Toronto’s best contemporary dancers. And to end, Mendelssohn’s thrilling, swirling, and ultimately triumphant 2nd piano trio! A mighty thanks to Sophie van der Sloot for joining us on cello - it’s her debut with us and we cannot be more happy.

Just wrapped up 17 incredible days of creation with The National Ballet of Canada. I’m so grateful to have worked with such a talented and dedicated group of artists.
Huge thanks to Hope Muir for the opportunity and unwavering support throughout this process. This creation wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance and contributions of Lise Jourdain and Miyeko Ferguson.
Special thanks as well to @jungp__ and @eric.nimchuk for their help during the early stages of development.
Feeling inspired and thankful. 🙏

🎥You’ve never seen a trailer like this! The Reconnection Project trailer is out. This transformative production about connecting to indigenous roots through dance was choreographed by @jerawolfe . Our production team was deeply moved and inspired by this project.
For Jera, This project aims to deepen our collective knowledge of indigenous spirituality and teachings. Many Indigenous artists working in dance feel distanced from their cultural teachings through centuries of forced assimilation. Through this
project, I hope to address this.
