A compilation of looking up! Predictable, I know, but the beauty has me dizzy! I’m overwhelmed and remembered Stendhal Syndrome.
~~~
Stendhal Symdrome encompasses a spectrum of physiological and psychological symptoms that can overwhelm individuals when exposed to art of exceptional beauty or intensity. These symptoms may include dizziness, fainting, rapid heartbeat, confusion, and in extreme cases, hallucinations.
The symptoms of Stendhal syndrome are considered temporary and usually don’t require any medical treatment. If you’re feeling overwhelmed from encountering a work of art, you may be able to resolve your symptoms by taking a break and removing yourself from the area.
So, according to Google, I need to remove myself from the area.
I’ve been trying to photograph and capture the feeling of being inside the Pantheon since my first visit in 1997 and I don’t think I have ever succeeded…. But this is my favorite shot. The warmth of the sunlight on the ancient concrete and the delicate decorative detail around the edges, with all of the coffered, recognizable details stripped away, this pic looks like what it sounds like to be inside the Pantheon. You are part of something bigger, surrounded by the hum of brown noise, and it is magical.
I did a google search for the Italian equivalent of “Happy as a pig in shit” and it came back with “Essere felice come una Pasqua” - to be happy as Easter.” Not sure about that but I’ll ask around.
Also @bigbridoyle in Big Italy (with tiny doors) is the best❣️
I know it’s only September, but we are already feeling the push for next summer’s deadlines.
There’s so much planning, sourcing and collaboration that goes into creating beautiful and unique spaces like this powder room in Westhampton Beach.
Thank you @barba_architectural and @georgevickersbuilder for helping us incorporate this chunky, uneven, not easy to work with piece into the powder room.
