Not to mention the beauty that surrounds this picturesque, little town of Skipton. Through Still Life, I will be teaching my personal approach which includes seeing & analyzing nature, color intensity, value relationships, to name a few. It is the same process I use when I paint portrait, landscape and figure. I simply find it easiest to teach my process in a short, 5 day workshop, through painting Still Life. I will be giving demos, individual critiques, Q&A discussions and everything in between. It is hard to believe but…Sölveig Sentō…is…officially…LIVE!!! Wow it’s been a road to get here. We learned so much (again) and bringing this vision to life has been a dream come true. And now for the fun part, finally filling its walls. GLAFA is offering the opportunity to spend the day observing and interacting with two William F. Draper Grand Prize winners of the prestigious Portrait Society of America’s International Competition. Michael Klein and Jeffrey T. Larson will spend the day painting side-by-side from the same portrait model. Throughout the interactive demonstration they will be describing, comparing and contrasting their varying methods and approaches along with answering any and all questions. This event will take place Saturday, January 10th from 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm with an hour break for lunch in between. The demonstration will be followed by hors d’ oeuvres and conversation. ⚡️Join us in Yorkshire for 2026!⚡️ Some workshops are already sold out, and some are ALMOST full! I really need you to think about your calendar for next year - and if you want to commit, it’s time to do that! The standard of teaching that we offer is extremely high and so I know a lot of students are coming back to the same teachers again and again. I can’t say I blame them! :) All of our workshops have taken me several years to plan and curate. We are always welcoming folks from all over the globe, including their spouses or a friend/companion that would like to join. We do not charge extra for non-painting partners, other than some food here and there. Bring them along for the fun! Here at WIY, we try to help with everything from getting you here, to ensuring you have everything you need whilst you’re in Yorkshire. If you’d like to pay over the phone, we can do that too (to avoid bank fees). I will personally call you and help get you signed up/answer any questions you may have. I’m also super happy to roll out the payment plans for 2026. 1/3 upon sign up 1/3 three months later and 1/3 three months from then. When you get here we have a family approach, which always involves a hug (if you want one!). I pinch myself when I think that most workshops this year sold out and had almost half the students returning for a second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and sometimes tenth time with us. You guys are like family to me and Joe - and although things will be a little different for 2026, our love for what we do here at WIY will not change… It’s set to be our BEST YEAR YET! What a week 💥 with our lovely friends @jeffreytlarson and @heidirlarson The whole week went by way too fast. Can we do it all again?! 🥹 Our students came in from 🇮🇱 🇦🇺 🇫🇷 🇺🇸 🇱🇻 🇮🇪 🇧🇪 🇸🇪 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and of course all over England. Wow wow wow wow wow. Safe flights home everyone. 🙏🏻 What an amazing group. Memories to last a life time, I hope. To Jeff, thank you for taking the time out to come and spend a week with us. Joe and I are honoured. You are an incredible painter, teacher and human being! Our students were all blown away with your teaching. Thanks too of course to Heidi for helping out in every way possible. Days 2, 3 & 4 with @jeffreytlarson 💥 It’s going by so fast & we are well in the thick of things as we look after this weeks students and prepare for next weeks with @juliettearistides I wouldn’t have it any other way. We are on a train that isn’t stopping. We are all having a blast. The weather has been quite simply put, gorgeous. We’ve sat out and bbq’d every evening and talked to the wee hours of the morning. It’s been magical. We adore Jeff & Heidi and will be so sad to say goodbye to them on Monday. Our student this week have been amazing too! We’ve had 8 students return to us this class after coming before. That’s my real measure on how we are doing. There’s no higher compliment in my opinion than folks coming back, year after year. For that, thank you all for your trust in us again! Our last day tomorrow! I’ll be sure to share the students progress and bring you with us a little more! Day 1 for our workshop with @jeffreytlarson and the students are off to a great start!
