Let's have a discussion: Bell or No Bell??? Recently, I was riding in a town that has made MTB tourism a primary industry. I was genuinely impressed with how the community as a whole respects MTBers. Maybe that's why I was a little caught off guard when I was riding down a trail, leading a large group of riders when I came across a guy that didn't seem too happy about me not having a bell (despite already being off the trail BEFORE I rode by). I understand the sentiment in areas where there are a lot of hikers present, but this was a somewhat remote trail system with very few hikers. Riding with a bell helps warn hikers that riders are approaching, but bells can also be obnoxious when people are recording video or just trying to enjoy the sounds of nature. I also do a lot of POV reels and YouTube videos. I don't think viewers want to hear a bell ringing the whole time. What are your thoughts? Help me out! What can I do better?
Have you ever traveled with an e-bike? It's not the easiest thing to do. I had to remove the motor, drop the battery, ship the battery a week ahead of time in a specially packed and labeled box, and remove some parts to get the weight under 50 lbs to avoid incurring additional fees. I will have to do it all over again on the way home. I still think it's worth it for a multi-day trip. What do you think? It will be a game changer when batteries become more travel friendly.
