We fear what we don’t understand…
But one of the most beautiful things we can do for people is stay curious instead of shutting down. Ask questions. Listen. Make room for honesty, even when the conversation feels uncomfortable.
Sometimes people don’t need perfect answers first, they just need to know it’s safe to talk.
And I think that kind of gentleness can change more than we realize.
This part of the conversation with @jeffejohnson carried so much honesty and tenderness.
Not leading with labels. Not leading with shame. Just coming back to this simple truth - I’m a child of God.
And I think there’s something really powerful about that kind of surrender. Letting identity begin with Him before anything else.
Maybe that’s where healing and freedom actually start.
In this raw and deeply moving conversation, @jeffejohnson and @jourdanjohnson share their unconventional love story, Jeff’s journey with same sex attraction, and the pain of navigating these realities within the church.
Together, they open up about grief, identity, marriage, and the ways the church has often failed to create space for honest conversations around sexuality and suffering.
If you’ve ever wrestled with shame, belonging, or holding pain and hope at the same time, this episode is for you.
Watch the full episode this Wednesday at 10am CT.
As parents maybe we overthink things. I don’t know, maybe it’s just us? 😉
Trying to get all the right toys and stuff for our kids can sometimes outweigh the simplicity that they will need years down the road, a simple letter with the gift of your presence. Jeff’s mom would write him letters every Christmas and more than any material thing, the letters are what he holds as a treasure now.
Jeff’s mom passed 3 years ago but we miss her so much. She left a legacy of love that has defined our family.
Moms, we see you and are cheering you on. Maybe this Mother’s Day it’s just a letter that will mean the most!
My Scentfluencer dreams came true today in the mail. @toddsnyderny just sent me a gifting through @shopmy and it was peak for me. This is my fave men’s clothing store and I’m flying high tonight!
Thank you all for being on my Scentfluencer journey with me and just rolling your eyes at my ridiculousness!
I’m a happy man.

Finding True Intimacy ft Rita Springer - out now!
@open.spaces.podcast
Her music has shaped us for decades. Before we knew her personally she instilled faith in us to believe choosing Jesus is always better. There were moments in our dating that we clung to her songs as a lifeline through all the hard. And in recent years we have done the same with her latest releases.
Today, we are so honored to sit down with the one and only @ritaspringer who stopped by our house for us to have a conversation on our identity and how to love the Lord and know Him intimately.
Welcome Rita to the podcast today!

Spring Break 2026 // one of our favorites
Unwound. Family time. Laughed together. Got sunburned. Fished. Rode bikes. Amazing sunsets. Flew kites. Forgot about real life. Ate terrible. Amazing location. Watching astronauts return to Earth.
Wish we just could have stayed 🖤
Guys… what we are TRYING to say is…
We would love you to share your story with us, and it obviously doesn’t have to be perfect because, ALL our stories are still in process.

Ep 14 - Family Secrets and Forgiveness
@open.spaces.podcast
When we first launched Open Spaces, we did it in faith… not fully knowing who it would reach.
Not long after, Brook & Elizabeth Mosser from @intentional_parents found us.
We got on a phone call, and he began to share parts of his story with me and I remember just sitting there blown away. Not just by what he had walked through… but by how God was already bringing people like the Mossers into our lives. People carrying real stories. Real heartbreak. Real redemption.
This episode is that story, shared publicly for the first time.
If your family has ever felt marked by secrecy…If there’s been brokenness, pain, or things left in the dark…and you’re wondering if forgiveness is actually possible…
You need to hear this one. Thank you @brookmosser for sharing today!

but this is a side of his story you’ve never heard.

Broken family.
Hidden secrecy.
What it actually looks like to live in the light instead of staying buried in shame.
And the power of forgiveness when it feels impossible.
There is something for everyone in this.
Tomorrow. Don’t miss it.
