It's been a year since I started working on this cover! So much has happened since! I am so thankful for this opportunity to work on the project. Thank you to @thebrokennbinding for the honor of working on these books and to @petrikleo for the amazing art direction! Here is a bit of the process from start to finish that I went through! #bookcover #fantasybookcover #fantasyart #bookcoverdesign

This one maks me smile every time I see it on my shelf! This was my first cover created for @thebrokennbinding . @petrikleo had a pretty clear vision for it, so there weren't multiple drafts on this, just some minor changes along the way. the main idea was to show the chaotic era, rapidly changing from extreme heat to extreme cold. The spine shows the color shift from one to the other as does the sprayed edge. Of course we got the three suns in there, and wanting to get some more imagery from the book, I integrated the pendulums into the typography which I think worked out great! I am really happy with books 2 and 3 but this one has something special and means a lot to me! Which is your favorite of the three? #threebodyproblem #cixinliu #scifibooks #specialeditionbooks

MAKING OF ERAGON! This is the dust jacket I designed and illustrated for @christopher_paolini 's special editions the Inheritance cycle, published by @thebrokennbinding and @penguinukbooks . Art direction for the dust jackets was with @petrikleo and for the rest of the project Eon van Aswegen. We tried out a lot of ideas for this one. From the start, we wanted something that was: -Iconic -Highlighted the dragons with their riders -Had dragons going across the full dust jacket Even with this, I tried out a few ideas that didn't follow the dragon across the whole dust jacket. It's always good to try things out, you never know what might work! Being able to design the typography as well as create the illustration is huge for me in the ideation phase, making sure that they work well together. During this phase, I would send sketches to @petrikleo and we would discuss what we liked and disliked about each one. I did about 10 sketches but these were the main contenders. While we liked all of them in a lot of ways, and I don't think there is a wrong answer, we went with the one we did because it just fit with everything we wanted. The first one was too dark and while very different, similar in tone to the original dust jacket. We loved the idea of a white background but with some sense of a landscape. Once we had the idea down, it was a matter of detailing, working out the anatomy, and finding the right font. The font actually took me a good 3-4 hours to find, I went through so many to get to this one, in the end I am extremely happy with it. Near the final stages, I brought the illustration into a program called Rebelle which replicates traditional media such as oil painting, It feels like you are actually moving paint around and we loved the look! #coverreveal #eragon #eragonart #saphira #digitalpainting #fantasybooks #fantasyart #thebrokenbinding #christopherpaolini

Best fantasy illustrator in the business? Let’s prove it! I’ve worked with Jeff Brown on 14 illustrated pieces, and I’m blown away every time by his amazing work. The book cover for Lightbinder is (in my opinion) one of his best works yet. If you agree with me, would you consider nominating it for a Dragon Award for Best Illustrative Book Cover? Nominations are now open! The Dragon Awards are the prestigous awards given at Dragon Con, the annual fantasy convention held in Atlanta. But a book is only eligible for the year it publishes…meaning Lightbinder is eligible this (and only this) year. Even better, I will be a guest author at Dragon Con, speaking on panels. It would be incredible to have Lightbinder up as an award finalist while I’m there. If you agree that this could be the best book cover of the last year, would you consider voting? Book Title - Lightbinder
Artist - Jeff Brown Link to the voting form is in my bio. Also, you can google ā€œDRAGON CON 2026 AWARD NOMINATIONSā€ Keep in mind you can only submit 1 nomination form, and you can only nominate a book for 1 category, so if you put Lightbinder in Best Cover, make sure to not put it anywhere else. Thank you for your support of Jeff and his amazing talent! #dragoncon #fantasybookcovers #fantasycover #fantasyillustration

Rules below! THANK YOU so much to everyone who has supported my work. It means so much to me. The amount of eyes on my work over the past couple of years has been life changing and I am extremely grateful for every like, comment, post, and share. Being able to do what you love for work is incredibly rare and I have all of you to thank. I am going to be getting into doing some very high quality art prints, and with that I will soon be removing my inprnt store and doing all of the prints myself. This giveaway will be the first ever of these new prints! They will be the highest quality art print paper and archival quality pigment prints. I am hoping to do gold foil titles on them but that is still in the works. The prizes: large art print, your choice of which piece of art (that I have the print rights to) signed and personalized. To enter: create an instagram post with the hashtag #jeffbrowngiveaway as well as tagging me. There are 3 categories: 1. Who has the most Jeff Brown pieces. This can include art prints and books I have worked on (typography only doesn't count). Books only count for 1 even if they have multiple illustrations. This doesn't include anything you print yourself. 2. The funniest post. Anything related to my work that makes me laugh the most. I have a very dark sense of humor. It can be as ridiculous as you want! 3. The most beautiful photo or video of any of my work. No rules other than it has to be a new photo, no re-uploads. Submissions are open until May 20th! I will be announcing winners shortly after that.

COVER REVEAL! Had so much fun working with @michaelmichelauthor on this cover & slipcase design for his upcoming Kickcstarter for The Price of Power: The Ultimate Collector's Edition This cover has so many elements and it was a good challenge to tell a story through the illustration of the characters coming through the tiger gate to the keep. Make sure to follow the Kickstarter page to keep up with campaign! I am really excited to have this one on my bookshelf.

Cover reveal! I was asked by @dawbooks to create the cover for Tad Williams' upcoming book: The Splintered Sun. This is a prequel and a new starting point for The Osten Ard world. It was a huge honor for me to work on this project!

Cover reveal!! This is for a brand new series from @helengarrawayauthor I created the covers starting many years ago for her previous series, and I think we came up with something very special with this. She almost decided to go the direction of a more symbol based typography cover, but when she explained the giant entrance carved into the mountain, I thought that this would be a perfect mix of symbolism, typography, characters, and landscape.

New illustration for @michaelwebbnovels Shadow Knights Generations: Special Edition Omnibus. This includes books 4-6, but you can also get the 1-3 omnibus on this kickstarter if you missed the last one. The Kickstarter is already launched and funded! I have worked with Michael on all of his covers across 3 series and I am excited to see these special editions come out! The 2nd image is my super rough sketch that I made during our video call, the next one is part way done, and then final.
