It's coming up on Super Bowl Sunday pretty soon, but this post is about a different Super Bowl on a different Sunday in a different year – and we made a movie about it. The movie is called 80 For Brady and it is out now and you can see it for 8 bucks! in select theaters. Now, you can imagine my enthusiasm when I, albeit the non-football fan but loyal Bostonian that I am, got offered the opportunity, the quite literally once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work on a film about Tom Brady and the New England Patriots – side note, also a film about friendship, perseverance, and doing what it takes to stand by those you care about – and with a legendary cast of actors on board. Say what you will about TB12, the Pats, or football in general, and I probably won't have a clue about half of what you're talking about. But for a few of us, this one was a special one, with some serious talent involved, some of the best to ever do it on many fronts, and a celebration of hometown heritage. I'm so grateful to have made even a couple small plays to help get it over the line. Many kudos to a stellar crew (pictured toward the end) and most especially thanks to Jarred Waldron, our gaffer; Damon Marcellino, best boy; and Benoit Richard, Lighting Programmer extraordinaire, for bringing me on as Systems Tech/Lighting Control Utility. This is what it's all about and this one made me wicked proud to do what I do as a lighting tech in Hollywood and celebrate my roots at the same time. Alright, now go see the movie on the big screen, and Go Bruins!!!

Ah yes, caught *in the light* in my happy place. It was JT, in the lighting truck, with the broom! Of course, the broom. Quite possibly my favorite of tools! Sweeping it up for the holiday break after the last job of 2021. It's been an absolute whirlwind of a year. Many great times getting to work alongside rad friends new and old. Thankful for all of you, for what you've taught me, for the experiences, for getting to do what I love doing for a living. And thanks for putting up with my sweeping habits, lol. Happy Holidays from your west coast Jefe! 📷 Moment captured by @ambrose728 💡 Lit up by the new @creamsource #Vortex4 ⚡️ Studio Lighting Technicians @iatselocal728

Throwback to testing @asteraofficial @nyxbulb for @canaryyellowlighting in the fixtures of my living room. Just for fun, I put them in the kitchen and bedroom too and made a little dance party out of it. This wireless RGBA (+Mint!) LED bulb has already changed the way we work with practicals, and is a great addition to our lil' collection of lighting kits. Now, back to your regularly scheduled photos from actual sets!

Even after all this time calling myself a chefe on insta, turns out I hardly ever post actual photos of food or my cooking. So, as part one of a remedy to this, here's a throwback to the spring: a colorful assortment of veggies and aromatics, pre-stir fry, for a Szechuan tofu dish that I grew up on. Each time this is in the dinner plans, I start early, chop veggies with the company of a nice cold gin drink and some jazz on the kitchen radio, and try my best to make it as well as my folks always did and do. With an added cruciferous option and probably more bean sprouts than anyone asked for, it's something that I get to call my own rendition. (You can never have too much garlic and ginger, either.) Forever grateful to have creative cooks for parents, who tried to expand our tastes as kids. Even though I was a shamefully picky eater back then, I always enjoyed this one.

There's always something hopeful to me about seeing the light of dawn after a night of work. The final moments are also the beginning moments; time seems to hover, as if unsure whether to hold on or to roll on. There's a victory in this fleeting passage, even if just a small one, even if it means being on borrowed time to get the last pieces of the night: it means it's time to boogie and get it done. Boy oh boy did it feel good to get back on set again for a few days. Big thanks to the homies for having me and for showing me more ways to stay on it and keep innovating. A most excellent experience getting back to work after nearly five months off the job and after missing it so much. A reminder to love what you do and put your whole self into it. Stay safe out there friends. ⚡️

On this Memorial Day, remembering my grandfathers. They each enlisted and served in the United States Navy during World War II. Howard L. Taylor sailed on the USS Wasp CV-18, an aircraft carrier in the Pacific; and Lewis D. Brown sailed on the USS Daviess County LST-692, a tank landing ship in the Mediterranean. These gentlemen were lucky enough to make it home to New York and West Virginia, respectively, though many of their fellow sailors were not. Today we remember the fallen, then and now, and all of those who have served. May you be at peace, Grandpa Taylor and Granddad Brown. I’m grateful for your service and your legacies. You both were honorable men who went about your lives with purpose.

Managed to not completely butcher my hair and still get that high fade the way I like, which, if you knew me in freshman year of high school, is an accomplishment. Shoutout to Cory who, after gasping in horror, helped even out the undercut. Look ma, I can still put it in a top knot! Happy Mother’s Day. Miss all you other hooligans.

Happy Birthday to my first pal in the game, favorite gaffer, business partner, the great homie @forever_heavy pictured here on the boat to Catalina for a gig, with cameras and light meter at the ready. Known this dude for almost ten years and get stoked when he calls me to best boy or just to talk about some new light we should try out or to get nostalgic about ‘gansett. They say it’s great to work with your friends, with you bud it’s an honor every time. I look forward to when the work kicks back in so we can keep the tradition up. Cheers to you and I’d be a real dingus if I didn’t also shout out your twin @smilelikeafriend as well. Happy Birthday to you both fellas.
