Hi y’all. A few months ago I signed up to do a live film score for the movie #Metropolis which has been a bucket list item of mine for a while. I teamed up my good friend Matt of @r_a_y_o_n_i_s_m and in the span of a month and a half we wrote two hours of electronic music set to one of the greatest visual movies of the era, all to be performed without a computer (not to mention Matt cutting the movie down from two and half hours to two hours AND replacing the German text with English).
It’s been a crazy musical journey and for better or worse we’re going to land this plane. This Thursday at @thelyriccinema we are performing the score during a screening of the movie at 7pm. If you can make I’d love to see you there. Get your tickets soon because turns out they’re going fast.

Included is a picture of Sloane because that’s what people really want to see.
I hope everyone had a great Dia de Los Muertos yesterday. It’s a holiday I really like the idea of but mentally preparing for a day to celebrate the people we’ve lost can be overwhelming.
My family is lucky enough to have this guy looking over us (he’s the creepy dog in the back).
He’s a #xoloitzcuintle and his breed has been associated with the holiday and their role as escorts for souls to the afterlife. I’m not a spiritual or superstitious person by any means but last night he was extra sweet and protective. On some level, I feel like he knew but that’s just me projecting. Anyways, take care of each other and let’s love ourselves because to reference someone great, how hell can we expect someone else to love us if we don’t?
Got a weird one here… hey friends staying busy over here. Here’s an interview I just did with @officialmacsabbath for @denverwestword first time I’ve had a manager show up for a band interview but it actually made it more interesting. It was fun to write that’s for sure.
Life update for y’all. A few weeks ago I left my job to go freelance/full time dad. Life leads you some crazy places. I’m loving being home with these guys but I miss shooting the shit with people. Anyone want to shoot the shit?
I’d call this a win. Glad I’m still writing even though life is hard and I spend my days now moving beer in a cold warehouse and watching the trucking industry implode.
Last night I had a dream someone was going to break into my parents house but we got tipped off so we knew when he was going to be there. By we I mean myself, Kayna, and @fbouckaert so we waited for the guy to get there and we all beat him up with police batons. It was surprisingly brutal.
Anywho, this picture came up on my phone the next day from when @fbouckaert retired from New Belgium. A true legend not to be messed with. Miss you Frezi, stay out of my dreams.
Made it home with our new baby boy Sloane Jackson Hobbs-Murphy! What a trip. We went from hanging out in the hospital room for two days to Kayna pushing Sloane out in 30 minutes so she’s the real hero here. Antman and Wasp was on the tv when it happened so it’s safe to say I can never watch that movie the same ever again. We’re happy, we’re tired, and we’re ready for the future.
Life has been so crazy. Posting on my personal account gives me anxiety for some reason, partly I think because part of me and wants to keep my family a little “off the grid” but I have so many people I haven’t connected with in a while I should give you an update.
Kayna and I are down in #santafe on a baby moon because surprise! We’re having a baby boy in February.
Here’s a picture of us at @meow__wolf and while it does look that way, kayna was not over it. Love you guys. Maybe ill post more now, who knows.
