nothing in life prepares you to have your first kid.. then you learn to deal with the joy & pain of them getting older.. their firsts become their routine & their normal.. then nothing then prepares you to watch your only child become your oldest child..
this year we threw a lot of change at Roman, a new house, a mom who was pregnant, & a baby brother. when we told Roman he was going to be a big brother, he said “I’ve been praying for a baby brother for years”.. I’ve never not been proud to Roman’s dad, but the older he gets, the deeper my pride in him grows.. genuinely in awe at the character that is deep seeded within him in all he does.
I picked him up from school early recently & his principal & another staff member stopped me to tell me a story about how he’d gone above & beyond recently to help a sub his class had, to the point the teacher went to the office to tell them. stories like this genuinely blow me away I get to be his dad.... I’ll never get tired of the privilege it is to be your dad.

This year you let me grow a mustache & bleach my hair.. the longer we are together, the more grateful I am to the Lord for letting me be married to you. You are an angel & my best friend. Thank you for loving me at my best and my worst, including my blonde hair, bucket hats, & beach shirts. Watching you love people & point them Jesus reminds me constantly of how selfless you truly are and how special it is to be your husband.
