After climbing the temple and swimming in a cenote it was time for lunch. Our guide took us to experience genuine Mayan hospitality with a local family in the heart of the jungle. They taught us how to make tortillas and we saw how similar our Hawai'i and Mayan cultures were through the plants they kept, the style of cooking underground, the use of gourds and the aloha in their hearts. The best meal we all had the whole trip!
Raysha made all of us scale the Cobá temple. The 123 newish stairs are a welcomed addition. Everything was managed, the queue and time at the top is 5min max and then they send you back down. The second site we saw was their basketball court, very gladiator style, winners were sacrificed because only the best for the gods.
