I am #thrilled to #repost this amazing news from
@percussiondiversitynetwork !!!! Our first in-person festival is coming this summer!!
**********************
The Network for Diversity in Concert Percussion is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Challenge America award of $10,000. This grant will support NDCP Live @ 5! The NEA will award 272 Challenge America awards nationwide totaling $2,720,000 as part of the recent announcement of fiscal year 2025 grants.
“We feel immensely grateful, excited, and honored to receive this generous grant from the NEA,” says Alana Wiesing, NDCP board president and chair. “As a small, EDI-focused percussion non-profit preparing to enter its fifth year of operations with programs that are predominantly virtual, the opportunity to celebrate such an important milestone in person is incredibly special. Our fantastic collaborator, the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, is graciously helping us bring this grand vision to life. In addition to hosting an event with masterclasses, professional development, lessons, concert attendance, and mentorship for our current students and alumni, we’re looking forward to featuring their wonderful talents in a showcase concert filled with solo and ensemble works. We will always cherish the belief in our mission and the financial support that the NEA has magnificently provided, and we’re thrilled and thankful to deliver a fun, memorable, and fulfilling in-person experience for all parties involved.”
NDCP Live @ 5! Will be the first-ever in-person gathering of past and present Network for Diversity in Concert Percussion Youth and Emerging Artists consisting of masterclasses, ensemble rehearsals, and culminating in a percussion ensemble performance featuring all NDCP Artists in solo and chamber works, to also include a new work written for this event.
