šŸŽ‰āœØ We celebrated our third years’ JCSP Graduation on Thursday! āœØšŸŽ‰ Each student received a portfolio of their work in recognition of reaching the end of their JCSP (Junior Cycle Schools Programme) journey. šŸ“ššŸ‘ The JCSP programme supports students by providing additional learning opportunities and experiences that complement their Junior Cycle subjects. Over the years, students have taken part in storytelling, reading and numeracy challenges, music making, coding, artists in the classroom, and a wide range of STEAM activities šŸŽØšŸ’»šŸ“–šŸ”¢šŸŽ¶ Our students have:ā€ØšŸ Held a pythonā€ØšŸŠ Listened to stories about alligatorsā€ØšŸ˜ļø Researched the history of the streets around our school’s Dublin 1 neighbourhoodā€ØšŸ“• Created and published their own books We are so proud of all they have achieved. Wishing our students the very best in their Junior Cycle exams and in the exciting years ahead 🌟 A huge thank you to our teachers, SNAs, and librarians for creating such a warm and welcoming library space and for helping make the JCSP Graduation so special ā¤ļøšŸ“š

Bread, Syrup and Art in the Library! Artist Margaret Suggs had another brilliant workshop in the school library with a group of our students from 1st and 2nd year. @masillustration We made an alphabet out of bread (which we didn’t eat, promise!) Then, we made an alphabet out of syrup (which we probably ate a bit of!) We had a brilliant time and created some fantastic images. All made possible by the JCSP Artist in the Classroom Initiative. #schoollibraries #artistintheclassroom #jcsp #magssuggs

Such a lovely Crochet Workshop today 🧶✨ Mrs Hassan, one of our students’ mums, joined us to lead a hands-on session where students learned to crochet their own hair ties/scrunchies šŸ’« She’s an amazing instructor - everyone picked up the skills so quickly and created some brilliant pieces šŸ‘šŸŽ‰ We’re very thankful for her time, energy and the beautiful crocheted gift she made for us šŸ’– #jcsplibraries #crafts #crochet #crochetforbeginners #inclusion @didi_crouchet

• @jamebolibrary There’s an Artist in the Classroom! The Amazing Children’s book Author and Illustrator Margaret Suggs is working with some of our students on an art project. @masillustration The theme of the project is ā€œWelcomingā€, inspired by our school’s recent School of Sanctuary award 🤩 that recognised our efforts to be a safe school for ALL our students and our community. @sos_ireland As part of this, we made paper bird houses and decorated them with drawings about ourselves. They are all different and all wonderful. Some are our student’s favourite comic characters, some are their favourite foods or flowers, and some are pure imagination. Borrow some of Mags’ books in the library! The project is funded by the JCSP Initiatives and the JCSP Library. Can’t wait to see the final works of art. #artinthelibrary #artistintheclassroom #schoollibrary #birdhouse #jcsplibraries

We had a beautiful morning in the National Library of Ireland at the We Write What We Like showcase. A group of students from 1st to 5th year engaged in a series of creative writing workshops with the brilliant Dagogo Hart and today performed their work to an audience of strangers, which takes real courage and skill. Couldn't be prouder of these superstar students and absolutely blown away by the level of talent on display from each and every school who participated. Huge thanks to our hosts at the NLI, to the JCSP admin team, to the City of Dublin ETB Sports and Cultural Council and above all to Dagogo for helping the students tap into and channel their talents.

We had a lovely visit from some Dutch teachers who were checking out how we teach in Ireland. They observed Mr Smith’s 2nd year English class, chatted to Mr Cunningham and Ms Ethell about PE, met our Reader’s Group, saw the autism classroom and chatted to Ms Hill, and observed a library class with 2nd years. We really enjoyed having them in our school and are proud to show how we teach and what a great atmosphere we have in CBS James Street. #jameboisawesome

šŸš€ šŸŒšŸŖWe had a fun, interactive mobile planetarium to our school today as part of the JCSP Science Initiative. Students and staff had the opportunity to explore space through four exciting shows and full-dome films, ask questions, and discover science and astronomy in a new and engaging way. Unfortunately we couldn’t capture images of how incredible it was inside the dome. šŸ§‘šŸ½ā€šŸš€ā˜„ļøšŸ›°ļø A big thank you to Martin and Jimmy from @exploration_dome for delivering such an enjoyable and inspiring experience for everyone. #jcsplibraries #jcsp #explorationdome #astronomy
