We have the ever-so-talented Centenary College professor, Joshua Chambers : Art exhibiting his artwork at our Lake St Gallery, and the reception will be from 5 - 8 pm.

About Joshua:
Described as elusive and happily odd, Joshua’s work echoes the philosophy of absurdist playwrights and deconstructed sets. Receiving his Master of Fine Arts from Louisiana Tech University in 2009 and his Bachelors of Art from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, Joshua’s work has been published in New American Paintings, Creative Quarterly, and Studio Visit Magazine. Chambers’ work can currently be found in Graphite Galleries in New Orleans, Ann Connelly Fine Art in Baton Rouge, and The Agora Borealis in Shreveport Louisiana.
His works are in the permanent collections of the Masur Museum of Art in Louisiana, the Lessedra Gallery in Bulgaria, and numerous private collections. Chambers lives in Bossier Parish with his wife and daughter.

@jchambers has a coterie of returning characters in his work. The birdhouse is one of my personal favorites. First how does he manage to make an inanimate object have so much personality? Second there is an inherent alienness to it. Is it an empty home? Is there safety there? We know it’s raised because it sits on a pole. Is it looking down at us?
Purely on a visual level but I love how it pops in stark white against the patterns and almost neon background.

@jchambers has made a bunch of larger format portraits of his cast of characters. I’m so used to seeing these figures small in a vast space. It’s super cool to see them in larger detail.
