it happens to us all one day, t’is the natural cycle of things - We are heartbroken but also full of immense love and gratitude for the life of this lady, my/our mum, grandma and great grannie, Shirley Ann Pearson aka #shirlgirl - She was a true BadAss and passed peacefully in my arms on Monday February 16th at 5.16am. She was tough, flawed and fabulous, always elegant, possessing a sparkle that had seen and overcome so much. She was a powerhouse of love and 91 years and 142 days young when she exhaled her final breath - i say young because up until unconsciousness took hold she remained vital and curious, healthily vain and ready for a giggle, and to impart her learned wisdom “to never look back and always keep moving forward” She was adored unconditionally by her three children, eleven grandchildren, her four great grandchildren and many friends who’s lives she blessed with her care and comfort. She was voted the most polite, mischievous and lovely of patients by all rank of staff who lined up to bid their farewells as she moved into respite care after 6 weeks in hospital - she told each one that she loved them and truly she did. Her’s was not a life of material luxury but of depth and integrity, of courage, humor, Grace and love - the true riches of life. ..cont below ♥️
Rest in Grace Mr Valentino, Valentino Garavani - You epitomized style, chic, exquisite taste, luxury in living - i had so many very happy, always interesting and culturally enriching times with you and your teams, all whom adored you - So many campaigns, so many stories ♥️ My love to @carlossouza1311@giancarlogiammetti and all those who’s lives were made fuller, happier

This shot of supermodel John Pearson captures exactly how we actually dressed in the late 80s. Denim on denim, - his jeans are 501s of course - unfussy, worn-in. Ray-Ban Wayfarers, no logos screaming for attention. And that haircut softly grown out, natural volume, no styling theatre the kind you got from simply living in it. Effortless, functional, cool.
It was the everyday uniform for the style-literate: models, creatives, inner-city boys, Sloanes, Europeans moving between work, weekends and nights out. Practical, confident, understated. This is the late 80s as it really was and it still looks right now.
