The Last Islander is nominated for Best Short Doc at The Big Apple Film Festival. It will be screened at the Angelika Theatre in NYC this weekend. Also at Jo's Nauti at 3 pm on Saturday for friends, family, and regulars. Key Grip Ted Richardsson. Drone Cinematographer Richard Green. Cinematographer, Director, Editor, Joe Berkeley. Anytime I get to wear my life jacket on production is a good time. #thelastislander #canonc70 #bigapplefilmfestival #mcdevitt #acushnet #josnautical #hellyhansen #peddocks

As Chief Russo said so well, "They deserve better." It was a terrific honor to collaborate with Hull FD on this video demonstrating why they need a new fire house. #hullfd #canonusa #chiefrusso #captaintwombly #deputyfrazier #joshuajames

Brian, the man in brown in Hull, Massachusetts is retiring after 31 years. He has a smile for all of the good people of Hull and a biscuit for all of the good dogs. He will be missed. #ups #upsdrivers #humansofnantasketbeach #goodguys

Fifty-seven Humans of Nantasket Beach made the trip to the New Bedford Film Festival for the world premiere of The Last Islander. Before the screening, film festival founder Ethan de Aguilar presented the star of The Last Islander, Mike McDevitt, with the Best Subject award. Wearing steel-toed boots and a tug Acushnet hoodie, McDevitt accepted the Harpoon d'Or and noted he believes the documentary helped him save his sister's house from the wrecking ball. In sailing, the crew crosses the finish line before the skipper. So too in film production. Thanks to Richard Green, drone cinematographer. Ted Richardsson, Key Grip. Tug Acushnet and her crew. Shot on location on Peddocks Island. Good enough for Scorsese in Shutter Island, good enough for me. The screening went well. I participated in a panel and answered questions. My view is the best stories are in your own backyard and if you tell them right you can make a difference in your community. The Last Islander, which was nominated for Best Short Documentary, has screenings coming up at The Hull Lifesaving Museum (sold out), the Hull Yacht Club (sold out), the Hull Public Library, the Hanson Public Library, and maybe even the Boston Public Library. Ticket sales have raised $10,000 for the Hull Lifesaving Museum and $2000 for the Hull Yacht Club junior program. #thelastislander #documentary #mikemcdevitt #peddocks #acushnet #humansofnantasketbeach #gunwale #barkus
