this class felt better than the first class back!! the spiraling attitude turn is still really scary - i need to get more comfortable with letting my body be horizontal and letting my standing glute extend more (but still engaged) and maybe even add hip twisting once im more comfy w it. also lost momentum a few times eg on the floor post thread, it was probably an ab thing. otherwise i felt a lil more comfy w plie and general upper body spiraling this time!

first class with vive in a while (several months)!! this class is my push class for sure, and this first class back was particularly overwhelming 🫨 but i’m also rly grateful to have this safe space to push myself harder than i’ve ever pushed before!!!! 🥰
my legs are at their limits here but grr i still want to develop a deeper plie and get more grounded. i feel like im in a washing machine with how much my upper body and head are circling 🌀😵💫 thru space (and i constantly feel on the brink of falling) but watching myself i feel like it can be so much bigger!!! i think i can release the tension in my upper back more and i also think being more grounded + tighter core shud help provide room for that. i’ve been saying these two things for a while tho 😮💨

last class before i leave NY :(
have been thinking about coming back for a few months literally Just to Dance (and also draw and do music and maybe pick up a new craft???) b4 going back to school :0
but i also miss some parts of boston and boston dance friends…so might spend some time at home first

first post class session was hard to get into at first but really fun by the end. second session was more comfortable but i felt stuck/couldn’t fully get into it (it is a bit scary being here in ny and not knowing ppl lol) — i think im still comparing myself too much when it doesn’t make sense and feeling too many Shoulds that don’t make sense for me. i can be a lot more forgiving of myself and starting from my own pace moving forward. and dance is a fun thing!!! and it is not fun to make a fun thing not fun. but i had great convos w friends that helped a lot 🫶

my second int contemp flow w vive @ peri - fighting for my life fr, very foreign pathways and muscles being activated, but i love love love how this movement feels 🌀🌀🌀
thinking abt being more grounded (deeper plies; requires leg days) and articulating my back more (esp arching; requires more stretch and strength; i’ve always struggled w this since/had back problems in high school), how to keep my momentum continuous, and letting go of trad/ballet hands 🩰🇨🇳🚫. also i got to meet some lovely ppl today + a past fixation alum !!!

first choreo class in a long long time (4+ months?) and my arms and hips got wrecked 😵 things r feeling better after doing a bit of training in hiphop n house fundamentals tho?? gasp :0. trying to keep a bounce but it’s hard w tempo. least internally moves are making more sense now :) time to go back and do lots more training (and rly just dancing) heh (also haven’t conditioned/stretched in a while so we should do that too~)

was rly cool watching other ppl dance and noticing how they use their upper body and arms on top of fundamental moves and grooves? experimented w some of their ideas and some of my own during the last few runs (yay for spaces of sharing!). noticing i can use more space sideways. also man staying on beat is hard 😪 definitely have a tendency to rush transitional steps and more dense footwork. thinking abt dance rhythmically is not sth i grew up with so it kinda blows my mind 🤯 sth sth march to the beat of ur own drum while also marching to the beat of the music’s…a lil cognitive overload ! for now. here’s to more house adventures, it truly does feel good 🥂

watching others and noticing how they sink deeper (and quicker??) into the floor with each bounce and stay v grounded!! will pay more attention to that next time. also my arms still feel awk but better than before i think ! love how house feels on my body tho and hope to continue doing moreee
wheeee this choreo felt so gooood and biggg and there were so many wOoo0m 💨 moments i rly enjoyed. also ppl n class vibes were so chill!! 🥰 my limbs got a lil confused at the end tho and sometimes my fingers start doing the trad thing again whoop 🖖🫴
