It can be finished in two different ways:
with black oil paint inside the engraved lines for a darker and bolder contrast, or with the cuts left clean and polished, letting the bright-cut engraving speak for itself.
Two different finishes, both looking equally good. It all comes down to personal taste.

I designed and cast these valve and point covers myself for this Yamaha XS650 build. I'm super happy with how they turned out.
The point covers only fit when using an ignition that runs of the flywheel.
I'm planning to make a few sets to sell, but more on that soon!
We started making parts for the XS 650 engine. We're changing to a different ignition system, so the original points and stuff on the head are gone.
We wanted something that fit better than a CNC machined cover, so this is what we came up with. We might make a few extra if anyone's interested.
This is the first prototype of a cast aluminium taillight I'm working on, this one is for the XS650 chopper we're building. I'm waiting on the custom PCB LED light to fully test it. It'll be a one-wire taillight, making for much cleaner and simpler wiring. Both the brake and normal light will run through the same wire. There will be some different designs, but more on that soon!

Another year's gone by, and I'm 33 today. This year's been wild, traveling to see friends, concerts, all the work at the shop, putting out some parts I really dig, and finally making some progress on projects. But there's still tons more to come, with lots of ideas, parts, and collabs on the way!

I was messing around with laser engraving. I started with a polished cover for our mini breadbox air cleaners, and this is what I ended up with. I've been listening to a ton of Black Sabbath lately, Ozzy's done a lot for the music I love so, I made this design as a tribute.
Maybe I should get to work on the ironhead and get that chopper running again...

C45 steel bushings with some press fit tollerances, always fun and a bit of a fight to get a decent finish. Got this batch done, now back on the mill retrofit!
Running a small batch of parts on the lathe again! its been a while, as you can see i really need to replace the coolant.
Its nice to get back into machining, when the mill is fully up and running i hope to get back into making a lot more stuff!
So today marks 10 years of Jb Customs.
What started out as a hobby turned into something more serious 10 years ago today. Its been a crazy 10 years, doing all this stuff got me to meet many friends, brought me to cool places and made it possible to travel a lot.
Last few years I haven’t been doing that much in my own shop and worked a lot for other companies, but I’m working on that. I have still lots of ideas for products and things I want to build.
I would like to thank everyone for the support all these years and hopefully in the many years to come.
There might be a party someday! For now life is a little too busy but there will be plenty of times left for celebration.
