Slide 3 - The invisible man’s band - symphonic modern soul from the Burke Brothers. Love Can’t Come / Love Has Come is a luxuriant sound, backed up with orchestral strings and laser tight horns. Slide 4 - Bobby Watson - All Because Of You - found in a ten pound bin in Crystal Palace (which is quickly becoming one of my favourite spots). Anything that bears Watson’s name is worth grabbing. Special mention to the track Pamela: Victor Lewis’ drumming is so worldly and gathered, seamlessly manoeuvring between calypso and swing, taking you on a journey to the Caribbean via New York. Miles Away’s Summer Party! ☀️🪩🕺💃 We’re back at our beloved @thejagodalston for the summer edition of our label night – and this time, we’re bringing along two incredible guest DJs to keep things hot 🌶️🥵 👉👉 to see what went down last time!! First up: the marvellous @vandorta_ – a serious crate digger with a sharp ear for all things funky. Vandorta has shared her eclectic selections at some of London’s finest spots, including Jazz Café and Colour Factory, and graced the stages of festivals like Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here. We’ve been fans ever since catching her VF Live set back in 2022, and we’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to invite her to play – and this is it. Next, the brilliant @jazzmanwill – collector, DJ, musician, and all-around music head. Will wears many hats, but every one of them is rooted deep in soul. We first linked up when we invited him onto our radio show in 2023, and he’s been a close friend of the label ever since. This set marks his long-overdue Miles Away party debut. Expect a globe-spanning selection of soul, MPB, salsa, funk, bossa nova, disco, Latin, and Afrobeat.
