Wanted to take a minute to pour one out for the legend Michael 5000 Watts. Hard to overstate his impact on hip-hop and culture (and on me, personally). Building on what Screw created, Watts is one of the biggest reasons why Houston’s sound became global. His mixtapes made me hear music differently. And it’s because of him and what he was doing on the northside that My Block Houston came to be in 2005. Houston Hard Hitters, The Day Hell Broke Loose, Before Da Kappa, Final Chapter, Straight to the Room - all incredible. RIP, 5000. Slide through for some unreleased bits from My Block. Directed/created by me Shot by @jasongallagherwashere Ordained by @omacadams

If ever anyone loved a little rescue dog, it was us. And that makes this so gut-wrenching to share: we had to say goodbye to our small but mighty little lovebug, Gucci, yesterday afternoon after nearly 11 years together. Gucci was the bestest of dogs. She was so funny with the biggest personality and the sweetest face. She was silly and mischievous, snuggly (only after 9pm) and so, so smart. Gucci was curious like a cat and bossy with her dog pack. She was the best traveler. She loved treats, cheese, long naps, giving kisses, tennis balls, car rides, belly rubs, whatever you were eating, tall grass, plane trips, hotels rooms, scratches behind the ears, squeaky toys, basking in the sunshine, meeting new people, trips to the beach (she LOVED the beach) and flirting with everyone on the street. And she loved us (especially when we were in the kitchen.) We loved her immensely and without her there is a Boston Terrier shaped hole in our hearts that will never fully heal. But now we imagine her rolling in the grass, in the eternal sunshine with a neverending buffet of cheese in front of her. Gucci was diagnosed with a massive brain tumor that was no longer treatable. We found out in September 2024 and she underwent radiation treatments that bought us a little more time. She was always a fighter, battling a litany of things the runt of a litter has to battle. But ultimately, that stupid tumor won. We know that so many of you loved her too and if anyone has photos or memories of her to share, we would love to see/hear them. For those who are able, please consider making a donation to SNORT Rescue in her name (link in bio). How lucky were we that they trusted us to be her humans? Gucci was such a gift and we are going to miss her so so much. With grateful, broken hearts, Kari and Joseph
