Man! When @chenzointhamix53 hit me up on my birthday and told me the news of him passing, it blew my mind. I was on my way to teach DJ class in disbelief. And to think that I hit him up Saturday to see if he would be down to spin my B-day jam before we close our doors. He was another DJ hero I'd love to have spin at my place along with others I've been blessed to have spin there.
This song, Chenzo put me onto, and it was one of my favz that I played to death summer '99 Rollin' in my Green Machine 2 with my broken hand. I bought that record myself that summer.
My first time meeting Romain was when @jeremias_santiagoftl had me pick him up to be a guest at our show on the first ever internet radio show called DOWNSHIFTRADIO.com put together by Dan Bino back in late summer 2001. He was just returning from his first trip ever to Moscow USSR, & was telling me all about that trip. From there, we were always cool, and he'd hit me up once in a while to hang out or to guest list me wherever he was playing. While I was living in Las Vegas, he was booked to spin twice, and we got to hang there too, and I showed him around and was able to take him to a show my KHZ homies was performing in at MGM Grand.
These pix are from August 2013 before he cut his dreads. All the times we hung out, I never got pictures with him. I made sure that night I took some flix with him. I got to catch that happy face of his. Romain was always smiling and happy. Always ready to show people a good time. That was another great night with him entertaining me, Chenzo, @lobelbylobel & my friends from Taiwan. I am definitely going to miss this brother. You will live on through your music.
