2 years down and a million more to go. I can’t believe Anna has been in my life for only this long because I wouldn’t survive without her. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us 💖
Some thoughts on the end of the year and the end of the marketplace mall.
Louise and Dale (slide 2) had shared so many memories , they’ve walked the mall since it opened. 43 years pass, and the place they’ve walked every day is closing seemingly for good. This year has taken a lot from many including myself, but the loss of a space is different. The familiarity of those halls can never be known again, maybe because the building is left decaying and unsafe, but still is there no responsibility for the owner to fix these issues?
I think that there is simply not enough want for them to justify it. Upkeep is something that has not only been overlooked but outright avoided. I think this is somewhat of a more broad issue societally.
The upkeep of our environment and people is overlooked. This year has been an example of that.
I think that we should just go back and tear down our need for overstimulation, focus on curation, and stop letting ourselves be sedated for the purpose of serving us more and more advertising slop.
If there’s any point to this it’s just to scream at the void. My New Year’s resolution is to spend less time sedated by my phone and more time focusing on the world around me. I would say I miss the old internet or how things were before but that’d be disingenuous. The internet has given us a lot of good things, but like Pandora’s box it unleashed a trove of greed and evil that cannot be contained again.
