this last month of grad school has been absolutely insane, but things are finally starting to slow down š®āšØ now that i actually have the time and mental space to practice the way i want to, i have been spending a lot more time on technique and thinking of new ways to keep my routine fresh š·

1. being a musician means that you will never stop growingā itās a lifelong journey that requires patience and consistency
2. not everyone is going to like the way you play, and thatās okay
3. body awareness is everything when it comes to getting the results you want
4. playing tense and trying to control your instrument will only make your life harder
5. comparison is rarely productiveā focus on your own path
6. landing your dream job is only possible if you never give up⦠keep going!
7. the most valuable skill is learning how to focus and let unhelpful thoughts float away
8. donāt do something just because you think itās what other people want
9. taking time away from your instrument is sometimes the most productive thing you can do
10. the best way to practice vibrato is with NO VIBRATOā find your pitch center first
11. absorb every ounce of information you can from your teachers and mentors. your time with them is limited
12. not everything is about you⦠people get busy and stressed, so donāt take weird interactions personally
13. SLEEP. itās more important than anything else
14. prioritize your physical health. without a healthy body, we canāt do what we do!
15. you are never going to have a perfect performanceā just strive to give an honest and engaging performance
16. our main focus should be getting more comfortable and confident each time we walk on stage
17. @sweetgreen or a salad is my go-to pre-performance meal. always eat something light and healthy with lots of protein to keep you energized!
18. you will go through slumps of low motivation⦠itās NORMAL (donāt freak out about it)
19. follow your passions and try new thingsā no one ever said you have to fit into a perfect box to get the career you want
20. take the time to have meaningful conversations with your peers. i learn so much from my friends at school!
