Part 4
last one 🙈
Unfortunately 2022 didn’t go to plan we had a deal set with a third party person outside of the team and it all fell through last minute and unfortunately there were no deals left by this time. We did have some opportunity’s but unfortunately money wasn’t on my side to continue I couldn’t afford to do it but that is the way the cookie crumbled and Yes I’m gutted but one door closes and another opens. Everything happens for a reason I left nothing on the table and gave my all I’m humbled from the people and friends we’ve met and made along the way. Me,Carmen and Rocco are heading back to Scotland to be with family as we have missed them very much and it’s time to head home. I would love the opportunity to race British championship again but unfortunately I can’t afford to do it by myself so if the opportunity is there I will again give it my all but if the right opportunity doesn’t present itself Iv left no stone unturned and forever great full for what we’ve done✅
Thank you Australia 🇦🇺 you are one amazing country and always have a special place in my heart ❤️
Part 3
So my first race in Australia was king of the valley where was a NSW once a year race and I placed 2nd in the pro open where I was a bit shocked as I had only been on the bike 4 weeks and then my second race was king of mx down in Bega and this one didn’t go so good, ended up in Hospital for a week in Intensive car with broken and displaced rips with blood in my lungs and a collar bone broken in 3 places. But thankfully me and Carmen weren’t alone, Dan the Chiropractor AKA (MotoDoc) @motodoc_ who also become an amazing friend who would come to every race with us was there helping us through this situation. And during the two years racing Dan would be there with me,carmen and sando making sure I was all cracked into place my arms where loose and I was ready to battle and give my everything. Also Rob little @escarpment_building offering me a job where I could train and ride whenever I needed to while working to make money to go racing thank you.
And with all my other sponsors at the time Sam Maindonald @wearelusty / @troyleedesignsau / @oakleyaustralia / @link_international / @pirellimotoaus / @motulaus / @rk_excel / @formabootsau / @nowramotoplex Who would of thought this would end up forming the perfect team AKA (Dream Team) I can’t thank all you guys enough for making everything I achieved over in Australia possible from where we came from to where we ended up I can honestly say I am so proud of myself, Carmen, sando , Dan , Tim and the whole team i don’t think anyone has ever done what we have done coming from nothing with no one knowing us to building a full privateer effort with no funding or money and achieving what we have. King of the Valley 2nd / king of MX 3rd / Aus pro nationals 2021 10th best result 8th Canberra / Manjimup 15000 had a freak Mechanical in the last race but was sitting 6th overall for the day until the last race but we showed them the speed we where up there. / east coast MX series 3rd overall also had many Wins in this series with my favourite Win at Nowra Motoplex against some big names.
proud of our team!!!!
Part 2
We Moved to NSW where is central to all the nationals we met more amazing people who loved my determination and was willing to help out as much as they could because we didn’t have a lot of money and no where to live didn’t even have a vehicle. I got a job working 12/13 hour days saving as much as possible while she got a job at her uncles cafe. Finally saved up enough after a while for a van and then I approached City coast motorcycles and Tim was an absolute legend and gave me the best deal possible and he would end up being my bike supported for my Time racing in Australia (Thank you Tim and the whole city coast @citycoastmotorcycles and they were able to put me in contact with a lot of other people for all my parts and accessorise.
I new I had a challenge a head of me not riding a bike for 3 years or training and to come over here give everything up and expect to do good was a long shot but we work harder than you could imagine on and off the track. And before my first race I met @mxrd_aus (Sando) who turns out to be probably one of the best race mechanics in the world and luckily enough I caught him on a good day (on going joke) and he agreed to be my race mechanic and not only did he become an amazing friend he also pushed and help me achieve everything I did in Australia I will always be forever great full for what he has done for me. Gave me the best race bike iv ever rode and it was by far the nicest bike on the start line he spent nights and nights on this bike and it sure did show thank you my friend for believing in me.
PART 1
Well where do I start….
Since I was a young kid I dreamed of coming to Australia and racing professional motocross and in 2017 after a big injury and retiring from professional motocross i thought this dream was only that a dream and I no longer could make it possible. But me and Carmen decided to take a gap year and travel Australia we met some amazing people and made great memory’s living in a Van for the first year and travelling Western Australia picking fruit for money experience that will last a life time. And it just happens that we were in the area picking fruit when Manjimup 15000 was on the biggest race in Australia (2019) so we decided to set up camp at the track for the weekend and watch some amazing racing (thanks to Willie Thompson the promoter who runs the event for inviting me) while I watched the racing all I could think about is this was my dream to be here racing and I’m just here watching. So I told Carmen I wanted to race Australian nationals and be back here to race Manjimup 15000. She turned around and sayed let’s do but if you want to do it need to do it properly and not half hearted. So that is what we did.
@carmenneilly
Throw back picture but massive shout out to @carmenneilly this girl stands behind me every step of the way and supports me no matter what❤️
On another note been quite on here since announcing not racing nationals this year due to returning home to Scotland later on in the year but just to clarify 🌟 IM NOT DONE🌟 I don’t have a bike atm but it’s just a bump in the road we still out here working and making progress on fitness and strength 💪🏽
So there’s no easy way to write this but will try make it short…
So unfortunately, I won’t be racing this year in the Aus Pro MX championship. As most of you know me and my girlfriend have been chasing my dream out here with no family racing professionally for 3 years now. It has been 4 years since ethier one of us has seen a family member, with the world the way it is atm we have made the difficult decisions to head back to Scotland and be with our family’s. That being said, we were really going to try one last year to see if I could show you guys my full potential and make my dream since being a young kid come true. But unfortunately some circumstances out of my control happened and the financial side of things have been a real struggle for us making it difficult for us to continue another year. It breaks my heart but that’s life and I’m so proud of what me, Carmen and all the people that have helped us along the way (will post a seperate post on that) have achieved. We sure have done something that no one has done in the sport before, we went from landing in Perth with two suitcases and having nothing. To being surrounded with amazing people travelling all over Australia as a privateer and racing professional motocross at the highest level. To top it of achieving a number of top 10 positions, mixing it up with some of the best and being one of the top privateers. It really was a dream come true even if we have came up short with not landing a full time ride. I can honestly say I’m so proud of what we’ve done.
On that note, I look forward to following the championship and wish everyone the best in the season ahead ✌🏾 #511
Unfortunately I won’t be attending @coffsstadiummx this weekend. I am absolutely gutted as I have heard so many amazing things about this event. I hope everyone that is attending has an absolute ripper of a time! …
You will see me on this beauty very soon ✊🏽
