Itās easy to look at someone and assume you know their past or upbringing.
The people who tell me I sound posh donāt know I grew up in a house with no electricity for the first 8 years of my life.
Back in Nigeria I was popular for being smart. When I moved to London, the kids said I was trying to be white.
When I decided to become a music artist instead of studying medicine at uni, my parents said I was wasting my life.
At 16, alone in my bedroom, I wrote a song that I ended up performing on The One Show to 4 million people, many years later. Shortly after this, I decided to get back in touch with my family, I hadnāt spoken to them in 7 years. My parents said they couldnāt be more proud of me.
Now I constantly receive enquiries from the biggest corporations in the world asking me to teach them what I taught myself in the countless hours I spent alone in silence.
Thereās a tear running down my face as I write these words.
Nobody will ever truly understand your journey and thatās fine. Thatās exactly why itās on you to share it.
If style is what you say before you speak
Then articulation is part of the mystique
Some people dress well and still sound cheap
Because taste canāt be traced on any receipts
If your output has minimal blast radius then youāre on the way out. If you canāt learn and apply fast enough then you wonāt evolve fast enough. Welcome to the next milestone of human evolution
