An armored bush cricket (Acanthoplus discoidalis) hitching a ride of a lion is a large, flightless, and heavily armored insect found in arid regions of southern Africa, known for its extreme defensive mechanisms. These insects have spiky exoskeletons and can spray toxic blood (hemolymph) from their joints to deter predators. They are opportunistic omnivores and cannibals, sometimes consuming injured members of their own species.
