Wavy Gravy Post! This weekend in San Francisco we will be celebrating the 90th birthday of the most legendary clown in the hippie world WAVY GRAVY! My first sighting of Wavy was in 1979 in Central Park, NYC. I photographed him for the first time at the 1982 Rainbow Gathering in Idaho (first pic). We became friends when I started shooting the SEVA benefits regularly for Rolling Stone Magazine in the early 90s. The best thing in the world is when Wavy called you on the phone and the first thing he would say was “you have Gravy in your ear”! We all LOVE Wavy! There are two chances to celebrate him this weekend. The first is to come and watch the amazing Wavy Gravy Documentary film “Saint Misbehaving” at the Presidio Theatre on Friday night, May 15. I also put together a 350 image slideshow as “walk in visuals” before the film screening This is his actual Birthday night! The Presidio Theatre is NOT the movie Theatre of the same name, but the newly re-opened Presidio Theatre in the Presidio. Saturday May 16 is the concert at the Masonic with all sorts of Groovy musicians Including Steve Earle, Todd Rundgren, Rickie Lee Jones, Peter Rowan (and many others) and an incredible house band with Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams at the helm! See you all at both! Tickets via the internet and at the door! PLEASE show your support!

I made a last minute decision to head down to Mexico for two days of El Gonzo…I am so happy I did! There were many amazing magical moments at this incredible groovy and perfect festival. There was one moment that transcended everything to become a truly all time iconic moment in Rock and Roll history, on stage in real time! We all knew Jim James would come out and sit in with Goose - Rick had already sat in with Jim James solo set, and the Sunday sunset MMJ set… What we didn’t know is that they would do a version of Neil Young’s Cortez the Killer the would blow us all away so heavily and deeply! Truly one of the most epic jams I have witnessed in recent times…It all started slowly and in the dark with Rick and Jim foreheads touching, brains charging up, and ready to fire on ALL cylinders! More pics to come...

New band name? Soaked in Bleach The Unplugged in New Yorks Mouth Hole Mihali Thank you @viva.el.gonzo for letting us pay tribute to the great NIRVANA with our brother @mihalimusic in Mexico 🇲🇽🤘 Mihali broke his Jagstang, Rory smashed his hand, Luke got nailed in the nards, someone threw deodorant at Jonny during Smells Like Teen Spirit. It was a proper Nirvana tribute and the master @jayblakesberg was there to capture it. Rock n roll.

May 1, 1988, 38 years ago today at the Frost Amphitheatre in Palo Alto, CA 🌹 Nothing better than a sunny daytime show at the Frost with the Grateful Dead in the 1980s.
