sometimes a pic like this pops up on my feed and i get to go on a little “remember when” side trip.
i can taste how much we hated each other here. haha. it was just too much pressure. i look back fondly on the times we were working on the songs as brett was writing them, but by the time we got to the studio there were too many outside factors pushing and pulling us apart. it felt like it had to implode, there was nowhere left to go. in the end the demise of that incarnation of the band led to the beginning of the band we are today.

my wife has painted many hundreds of canvases, probably into the thousands, and every one of them i watch unfold into reality. some become masterpieces worthy of any art collection, some become pieces so personal for the new owner that i have seen the emotions well up inside them, and the gratitude for bringing that to life. i envy her ability to create worlds, create lives that exist only within her and put them on canvas for all of us.
the world is full of meaningless convenience these days and i do not spend enough time slowing down to appreciate the gift that is being given to me daily. i love you natalia. with every fiber of my being.
