It is with a heavy heart that we share that our beloved Smalls left his earthly body in the late afternoon on Sunday March 15
His passing was quick, and in many ways, graceful and magical
Rae held him in her arms as he took his last breaths, and I held his head while we recited prayers and mantra into his ears
He passed naturally, and had his dignity and so much of his character until the very last moments
We were able to commit his body to the earth in a spot we can see from our living room window that gets plenty of sunlight and is surrounded by natural beauty
As we gave him his final rites and said prayers, the sun broke through the clouds and shown down on us in a magical display, welcoming him homeward onto his next journey
Smalls was the type of being that touched many lives
He was a regular part of every studio session, he was a totem and guardian of the tea house, and would frequently sit with clients while Rae did their hair.
He was our companion, our familiar, and our baby.
He adored so many of you, and we know many of you loved him a great deal
Thank you for understanding that we wish to have the space for solitude while we grieve
We will continue to do prayers for him for the next 49 days, reflecting on his good qualities, and visualizing him merging with pure Light and Love
